So this fall, we can expect from Apple...
A Retina Display iPad 3
An A5 powered iPod
and an...
A5 powered iPhone 5 with a 4" screen, 4g, better voice controls, cloud storage and drag and drop support.
Basically, every single thing on this list is about to come true...
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1021233
I could live with that. Apple is going to DOMINATE this Christmas. :)
Except for the fact that Apple is not about to release an iPad 3 this year. They have absolutely no reason to.
June: Preview Lion and iOS 5.
July/August: Release Lion.
June-Sept: Updated iMacs.
Sept: Updated iPods.
Sept/Oct(even Jan): iPhone 5.
Spring 2012: iPad 3.
You really expect them to squeeze a new iPad into the fall. If anything you will see another Air update.

Has anyone considered that apple might not be realeasing the wide screen super secret video ipod because it dosn't exist?
lets all think for a second...
1) touch screens are weak, soft, and matte, not iPod at all
2) they get printy and scratched very easily
3) they would go through oodles of batter power
4) Apple would not make the thing bigger just to hold the extra battery
5) battery life would STINK
6) touch screen starts to complicate the interface, goes against apple's easy as pie rule
7) the thing would have to cost a fortune
Logic has no place on the internet ;)
But seriously that is a good post, it's similar to points others have brought up during the last few months.

Most branches of John Lewis are scheduled to have them by the weekend. They actually state Saturday, but knowing our supply chain, more likely Monday.
Never say never.
Ooh, fab, thanks, I'll check it out next week. Scotsys said it would be a week or so, but I couldn't find anyone to ask in John Lewis.

Although:

that rumor was made up by someone in this thread, posted on 9to5mac as gospel, added to MR front page, we laughed in this thread about it, then it was removed on 9to5, moved to page 2 on MR, original poster banned... so yea, they may be coming, but if it is then that story is just coincidence.

I'm pretty sure readings of 15C-19C are incorrect. I've NEVER seen or heard of modern laptop/desktop CPUs running that cool.
I'm sure you're correct but I'm confused as to what results to believe.
I'm now using istat Pro, Temperature Monitor and Core2Duotemp. All are saying the same thing.
See the screen grab below.
If I put the machine under stress it does go up to 50 or 60 degrees but generally, it's saying around 21 when idle.

To offer hardware at the same time as WWDC mixes the message to developers and (mostly) to the world at large -- unless, UNLESS it deals with something that developers need to know -- the iPhone 4 was announced during WWDC 2010 for one BIG REASON --> Retina Display.
WWDC 2003: PowerMac G5, iLife.
WWDC 2004: 23 and 30 inch cinema displays, iTunes 4.9
WWDC 2006: Mac Pro
WWDC 2008: iPhone 3G
WWDC 2009: iPhone 3GS, 13 inch MacBook Pro, and bumps to the 15/17 Pros.
WWDC 2010: iPhone 4
There is a lot of precedent for hardware and software announcements at WWDC, including a lot of stuff that doesn't directly impact developers. It's a big media event, and Apple saves on throwing two events close together in the summer by announcing things at WWDC.

Well, yes and no. The title of the page reads 'Core 2 Duo'. The page also states it's available to pre order, with a release date of the 13th.
Sure, but it has obviously nothing to do with the specs of the new macbook.

Stop complaining about another iPad release - its obviousthere will be a release every 12 months so stop complaining that you just bought an iPad 2.
iPad 3 sounds like a cool gadget, needs to stay ahead of the competition so hopefully Apple get it out first.

two thoughts on this
1. hopefully they are not automatic and you have the option of downloading... could make jailbreaks a mess, but i bet if they are auto updates, someone in the jb community will release a tweak in cydia that stops it from automatically downloading the latest firmware.
2. If this is really going to happen, apple is going to have to stop releasing the entire OS as an update... the "location bug" update today was around 1gb.... will be atrocious to download OTA... also better not go against data usage for the poor people who are on capped data plans.
-edit-
and waste data? i dont know...how useful is this...really?
how hard is it to update via itunes? i just think we as a society are trying to come up with "innovative" and convenient things that are rather pointless.
others may find it useful, but why would one need to update on the go?
Its probably not very useful to many, if any around here, but you would be surprised how many people never update their phones through the computer. A lot of people never plug the phone back into their computer once it's set up. OTA updates would help these people ensure their devices are more secure and that they are running the most up to date software.

No one is moving the goal posts, you're not answering my questions. I'm just comparing to prove a point. No one else is whining about past discrimination except blacks. Everyone was discriminated at some point. They've all moved past it.
More falsehoods. There is absolutely no equivalence in terms of discrimination between whites and blacks within the scope of western history. None. Since when were whites discriminated against on a scale even within several orders of magnitude of that inflicted on black people? Not to mention that it's insulting to describe reactions to discrimination as "whining". You have a very large chip on your shoulder against perceived excesses of what you call "political correctness", but you appear to be either dismissive or completely ignorant of some basic facts that I have cited - facts that have a fundamental bearing on the issue.
Nein. What uncited assertion? I provided you with facts and statistics. You just don't seem to like them and don't want to face the facts. But that's ok.
That's completely untrue. You haven't provided a single fact or statistic to back up your statements.
Which is BS. Why should i find a country without a history of racial prejudice? Again, all the other races have moved past it except blacks.
Why? Because you suggested they exist - but you won't find one, because once again you are simply making things up. Your arguments are informed by emotion, not fact. Unless you can find some real evidence to back up these statements, they are nothing but bigotry.
Beside the fact, many blacks in the UK are immigrants and their ancestors didn't even deal with racial prejudice in the UK. So figure that one out.
Racial prejudice exists everywhere -yes, even in Africa amongst different nationalities and ethnic groups, all of whome are "black" - and it is not limited to Africans either. Look at the way Irish immigrants have been treated in the UK and US in the past. They are as white as any "white", and yet they suffered many of the exact same types prejudice as any other minority, barring slavery only.
The stated purpose of your "pondering" was to discover why gun crime is so prevalent among blacks in London. Your (baseless) assertions are bent towards suggesting that the problems stem from something inherent in black "culture" or some other internal cause. You dismiss all external factors as "political correctness" or invented "whining" by blacks themselves. You also try to act as if prejudice is something we've "gotten over" but blacks can't let go of. This is all vague bigotry, misinformation and lies, with absolutely no supporting evidence to back it up. In fact, you have proven over and over again that many people haven't "gotten over" old racial prejudices.
This is no longer an argument; it's merely contradiction on your part.

It's just like what happened to Music. Even if it takes off on the iTunes Store, I dont think that the sales of DVDs will be affected very much. So I dont see what the deal would be. Unless its a union
I meant union as in Wal Mart fears its employees forming a workers union...nothing to do with movies or Apple.

I have to say I mainly agree with Jobs on this one.
Microsoft is encouraging "nerdiness" while Apple is telling you to live your life and interact with one another.
I guess his point is that the world has become a colder place, with serious lack of human contact promoted by the internet and the digital content that surrounds us. I'm all in favor to true human interaction, switching earbuds and etc, do we really need to send something to someone that is 5 feet away? Just get up and go there... And c'mon, whoever is saying that they're disgusted of putting on someone else's earbud is just being paranoid and picky, like the "shark attack" and "killer bee's" danger, it's just in your head, you ain't getting AIDS from an earbud...
IMO people need to get out more, talk to each other and stop doing everything wirelessly and digitally.
JOBS RULLLLLZZZZ! (I lost it now...)

I love the Hecho en China threads!
Every time, posters come out to support China and insult the US. They all use the same talking points:
US workers are lazy
Unions are evil
Regulations against pollution, etc are burdensome
An iPhone would cost $1000 or even more!
Taxes on rich people/corporations are too high.
Hmmm.....sponsored by our right wing, or by Foxcon?
You do understand that the right wing backbone is low income factory worker types in the so-called red states, right?

I didn't even notice the 1GB standard RAM until you mentioned it... I hope this ushers in a change for the other pro models...
Perhaps Mac Pros don't come standard with 1GB RAM because they are supposed to be super configurable, and Apple assumes more RAM will be added anyway?
The Mac Pro does come standard with 1GB of RAM. You can't configure a model with any less than 1GB of RAM.

As happy and excited I am about this update, I can't stop feeling a little irritated about the amount of time it has taken for it to come out.
It is 3 years since I first almost bankrupted myself by buying an octo-core machine. And I bought it based on all the rhetoric Apple spewed. Since then the only thing I seem to own that actually utilizes all that power is bleedin' Handbrake, an open source application.
Don't get me wrong, watching Handbrake crunch HD video at 120 FPS is a thing of wonder, but using FCP and having 7 of 8 cores sat there idly doing nothing has profoundly bothered me.
I guess it is my own fault for being such an early adopter and being so utterly addicted to Apple's marketing hype.
PS., Please god, don't let this new Final Cut be anything like the first iteration of Aperture 3. One of my worst software nightmares ever.
