Granted, for new fans might be a good thing. I wonder how many new fans the Beatles have nowadays? Plus, their parents might have the songs already on cd or lp. and of course you can always go to your local cd store and buy their music.
Sorry, I don't think adding the Beatles is a big deal at all.
The only thing it might be interesting is to buy their whole complete catalog of songs just like Apple did with U2 Complete for a good price.
...and the exclusive Dylan songs with the whole catalogue oniTunes? Yes in theory we have had these songs for along time but for some reason, people love to download to their itunes from the web. You can always buy most of these CDs cheaper, even used.

It's called a World Wide Developers Conference for a reason. It's not New Apple Hardware Announcements Conference. Get over it.
Wait a Second! "Apple Hardware Announcements Conference". Brilliant Apple can charge $1500 for people to come and watch Apple announce new hardware. Of course at that cost the hardware they announce would not be included.
Some how I doubt that many people would pay that much.

I'm a bit confused. How exactly does the context of the Old Testament point to a triune god? I've done a lot of academic study of the Tanakh in general, and Second Temple Judaism in particular, and I'm at a loss to where in Jewish orthodoxy the idea of a triune god exists.
I'm sorry SuperJudge. I should have worded myself better. What I'm trying to say is that the information presented on the web page that I referenced points to contextual clues that would require one to know the Hebrew language to understand. Additionally, understanding Hebrew history in terms of traditional beliefs and culture is also beneficial when understanding the connections between the old and new testament and hence the old and new covenant. We believe that Christ fulfilled the prophecies of the old testament.
I didn't mean to imply that traditional Jewish belief supports the concept of the trinity. Obviously, it does not as they interpret the old testament as a stand alone without the revelation of the new testament.
I didn't intend to be confusing, just to point out that simply reading the old testament on its own in a modern translation might not bring out all of the nuances that are there in the original language and context.
For answers regarding how the old testament itself does point to a triune God then look at the web page I referenced in my previous post.

The days of $300 Windows PC's are over. People have more expectations for their PC purchases than just email and word documents. People are opting to buy better PCs but less frequently.
Apple now is an option for people who have abandoned the crappy cheap computers and the iOS devices make Apple PCs even more attractive. Especially with Dual Boot options.
I've noticed more Linux users on campus opting for Apple PCs too. The people prefer Linux but like the ability to boot into Mac OS and get the benefits of that.

Augh, I was hoping they would redesign the G5 case. Its been 3 years!! Cmon apple, stop milking old designs. I think this is the first time that Apple hasnt changed the look of the case when going to a new processor (theyve even changed cases when NOT changing processors...)

Remember the beige G3's? When Jobs first came back, he put the 233 G3's into the same beige boxes the old 604's were in so that they could be released sooner.

A number of recent reports have claimed that September 12th (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/08/20060831122800.shtml) will bring an Apple media event with iMac updates.
ThinkSecret now reports (http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0609sept12event.html) that Apple's September 12th media event will also introduce a 2nd generation iPod Nano and an updated 5G iPod alongside upgraded iMacs.
According to the rumor site the new iPod nano will feature larger storage capacities as well as multiple colors in a metal finish. Meanwhile, the new full-size iPod will simply sport upgraded capacities at the same price point. ThinkSecret does not expect the long rumored touch-screen video iPod until but does expect the introduction of the iTunes Movie Store at this event.

Anyone who was expecting more from this update was living in a bit of a dreamland. The MacBook design is the newest of all the form factors from Apple and from the sales figures they have no reason yet to think about changing it. Incremental updates are nice to see, price cuts are even nicer.
As for what we're now going to get at MacWorld. I think iTV, video iPod and BluRay will be the main talking points there, along with a small update across the range to support 802.11n. I don't think Leopard will be ready by January.

Apples New WiMax service, covering the entire world, it will work with the iPhone 2 and all later laptops but Apple will sell an external modem plugging into the previous MBPs ExpressCard/34. The WiMax service has VOIP, the previous iPhone will still be being sold and will so until their contract runs out with each carrier. I got told from a friend of a friend of a girl friends mothers ex friend who knew this guy who says he worked in an Apple store and was told by his manager who was told by Steve who came up with the whole thing.

Now here is one place where the superiority of the Zune comes through. Many, many words rhyme with "Zune", in contrast to the sadly rhyme-challenged "iPod". You can even have:
"I played a mellow tune
On my yellow Zune."
With iPod, you pretty much run out after "tripod".
---
Ha!
Ive an even better one:
"Id really go to town if I had a Zune t'was brown"
And we all know what brown reminds us of besides chocolate....

Nice systems. Just hope we get Macbook/Pro and iPod updates soon! (Especially if they count as finally fixed rev. 'b' versions!)
It's nice to FINALLY see a decent GPU in an iMac (the Geforce 7600GT). I think this is the first time, though it's really overpriced if you're getting that model. Still, exciting updates for the iMac and Mac Mini!

Yes. I think they just didn't want to scare buyers with an extra $1500 of their insane RAM prices.
It's possibly a waste of money, though. The 32-bit Napa chipset might make it impossible to use most of the top GiB.
But I'm sure somebody will put 4 GiB in one of these soon and tell us the real story!

I also think that whoever has the remaining rights to this material realise that its shelf-life is almost up. In 5-10 years time, the broad appeal of much of this material may have less relevance to the average consumer and its perceived market-value may be far less.
That's not a comment on the merits of The Beatles' music; just my view based on many of the comments I read by what I am assuming are younger music listeners.
I'm 43, many of these songs are ingrained into my memory from childhood, but the only Beatles albums I would possibly be interested in are maybe 2-4 remastered CDs; I'm not interested in downloads at all. But to be honest, I don't feel that by not currently owning them that my music collection is lacking at all.
I don't know about that. I'm young and I love the Beatles. They may decrease in popularity, but I don't expect them to go away ever. Also, it is still quite common for popular artists to cover Beatles songs. Just do a search for some songs on iTunes.
Beethoven and Mozart aren't the most popular artists on the charts today, but their music is still very well known and loved. I expect the Beatles to be known and loved in 100 years. Practically everybody would recognize the opening of Beethoven's fifth, even if they didn't know it was the fifth or that it was written by Beethoven. The Beatles may not reach that level, but their music will be around. They are the most popular artists of this century.

In red is your problem. In marriage you're a unit; there is no "your" money or "my" money.. it's "our" money. If there are things more important to the unit than an iPad (I can think of many, many possibilities), then you're contorting the wife's stance unfairly.
And, just for the record, for the women/wife bashing that's happened in the thread I'd like to point out that it can go both ways. I'm a wife and we were standing in line on launch day for ME.. my husband would never have blessed the purchase if it came from joint funds. This is the beauty of separate "fun" accounts. An allowance per se for each of us, free from the negotiations that happen from joint accounts (and to anyone that argues that it's ridiculous that big purchases from joint money have to be discussed is going to be in for a rude awakening come marriage, IMO). More couples should have 'em.
Good point.

But these babies are gr8 value!
Luckily you don't have to choose for the 7300... you can get the better 7600 inside. Not brilliant, but it's better.

Has anyone noticed that the refurb section at the Apple Online Store is completely out of stock of all 15" and 13" Macbook Pros? I can't remember this being the case recently and it makes me wonder if this is related to a possible new release of those size configurations. There are multiple configs of the 17" MBP available.
